Non-Spicy Rub

When smoking meat the kids will eat or you have guests who don’t like spice, sometimes you need a non-spicy rub to impart great flavors without the zing. This is a basic rub you can use on almost anything but is best for chicken or pork.

1/2 Cup paprika
1 tsp cumin
2 tbsp brown sugar or jaggery.
2 tbsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp mustard powder
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp ground fennel

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Use a mortar and pestle to grind up any limps. Put into a shaker for easy application to your meat or store in an air-tight container.
